Why did Timothée Chalamet get the opportunity to play Bob Dylan?

I personally think the gap between Timothée Chalamet and Bob Dylan is just too large. I don’t support this casting decision for a movie like this. What do you think of Timothée Chalamet’s performance in A Complete Unknown? Is this movie worth checking out?

donvic: Lol, you mean Bob Dylan, right? Pretty sure they picked Timothée Chalamet cuz, like, out of all the young stars, he's the only one who's kinda the right size. I mean, no way they’d cast Chris Hemsworth for that lol.

So bad that they are good for me

In the tastes of cinema there are many nuances and very subjective opinions, between the good and the bad, the fun and the boring. But the truth is that there are movies that I myself accept that they are not the best to deserve an award, however for me they are movies that I can watch over and over again without getting bored, such as Prince of Persia, In Time, Green Snake, among others. So in this article I want to tell you without shame those movies or series that can easily be my guilty plea

Hot comment: Tienes razón esas películas son tan malas que son buenas en especial principe de Persia la he visto como 1000 veces

Disaster or success: a date with Penny

Many people seek to have a perfect date, not only on Valentine's Day, but at any time. Where most people try to behave like they are not to impress their partner, but personally I like it better if the person shows from the first moment, that is a disaster. That's why I think that among so many characters of the big and small screen, a person who represents that originality and show that being a disaster also has its appeal is Penny from the series The Big Bang Theory. From the very first chapte

Recycling or no new ideas?

In the world of entertainment, there is a diversity of genres, qualities, durations and themes for everyone. There are colors for every taste and cinema offers entertainment for everyone. But what happens with the current cinema according to my personal opinion, although more than my opinion I want to raise a doubt. And it is written in the title. The current cinema is using recycled material or it is running out of ideas? my question is raised by the majority of the current content, eye do not

marvelousmars: I don't think that reusing ideas is always a bad thing, because it can offer new perspective into the work. The real issue is when there's no creativity and the original story is clearly just being used because it has fans. If marketability is put before art, it's always a flop.

My favorite movie killers

We all love movies that contain action, assassinations and one man taking out an entire army a la Equalizer, John Wick, Rambo, Chuck Norris, Liam Nesson, among others. And personally I enjoy many of those movies even if they lack a little bit of deep plot. But when you already know the scoop you can't expect to see a movie with a message, just explosions, punches and gunshots. A movie I saw a while ago, making me actually get to know this action and martial arts artist (Iko Uwais) is THE RAID. B

A Complete Unknown Feels So Familiar

Let's first address the elephant in the room. Yes, Timothée Chalamet sings and plays the guitar and harmonica in A Complete Unknown – no overdubbing, no lip syncing. The trailer put a lot of doubt into people's minds, including my own, about his ability to achieve this without sounding corny. Director James Mangold and screenwriter Jay Cocks must have known we would wonder about Chalamet's musical chops, for they throw him into the deep end early. In one of the movie's first scenes, Chalamet's B

Why Dune Part Two is The Best Picture of 2024

I thought I wouldn’t have to, but here we go… I will start saying this: I am not a Sci-Fi guy. While I do respect the Star Wars franchise, withstand massive admiration for Lord of The Rings, and certainly appreciative of Harry Potter’s precision; I’ve never been akin to these type of movies (with the exception of The Empire Strikes Back ,1980 and Return of The Jedi, 1983). All of this to say that I was taken to the theatre involuntarily and without really knowing what to expect. Little did I kno

Eli Fonseca Films: PREACH! I love this technical breakdown, and you have used vivid language to get your point across. The transition into talking about the sound design was seamless. I would love to have heard you praise the plot more and break down some of those narrative elements. Overall, you have made your stance clear and I can feel the passion you have for this movie. It is no doubt a masterpiece!

Wait, Timothée Chalamet Thinks He’s Bob Dylan?

I went into A Complete Unknown with my expectations firmly planted in the dirt. Let’s be honest: biopics have never been my thing. They’re like the cinematic equivalent of skimming a Wikipedia entry—efficient, sure, but rarely the stuff of thrills. And Bob Dylan? Look, I’ll respect the guy’s legacy, but I wouldn’t call myself a fan. In fact, until I saw the movie’s press materials, I was blissfully unaware that he’s still alive. Then there’s Timothée Chalamet. Don’t get me wrong, I admire the gu

Lucas Friesen: I'm glad you liked the movie. And the way you wrote this article makes your appreciation for it really shine. I love when I have low expectations for a movie and then the movie totally blows me away. It's one of the best experiences in movie-watching

Timothée Chalamet and the Art of the Press Tour

The greatest trick Timothée Chalamet ever pulled was making the world believe that A Complete Unknown's press tour was unplanned, organic and impulsive. It's easy to believe, since his movements are so uncommon. What other actor crashes a look-alike contest, goes on College GameDay, and sits down with a generational talent at the British Film Institute? Even when he does the usual press tour stops like interviews and premiers, he does them in a way that attracts attention, as we'll discuss. Chal

The AI-Supported Oscar Race: How Will It Affect Cinema’s Future?

The boundary between technology and art When the CG-generated feather floated down beside Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump (1994), few questioned the filmmakers' use of technology; instead, many were in awe of the advancements. When The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002) introduced Gollum, a character brought to life through motion capture and digital rendering, no one criticized CGI manipulation. Instead, audiences praised Andy Serkis's seamless performance and the perfect integration of human a

A Complete Unknown: I’ve seen it, and I don’t hate it (and Timmy Chalamet isn’t a bad Dylan)

I’m a big believer in Bob Dylan and an even bigger disbeliever in biopics. So when I heard about the inevitable release of a Dylan biopic helmed by Hollywood journeyman James Mangold, my reaction was anxiety, puzzlement, and rejection—because a genius like Dylan can’t possibly fit into the constraints of a traditional biopic. We already have an excellent non-traditional Dylan biopic: Todd Haynes’ 2006 film I’m Not There. This film uses kaleidoscopic visuals and six different actors portraying Dy

Is it too early to predict the Oscars winners?

The controversy has begun. It's time to fire our hate bullets at an awards ceremony that annually drives us through the wall, but that also plays with its reputation, even though we don't care. The Oscars! We will continue watching them although we lie to ourselves year after year saying that we won't, that their woke agenda is meager, that the jury is no longer coherent, asking how on earth does Emilia Pérez have so many nominations?—I added that 2025 version myself—and the endless atrocities w

marvelousmars: I haven't watched most of these, but I'm definitely going to check them out now! I definitely disagree with Forsch on Juror #2, though. The film had an interesting theme, sure, but didn't seem to know what to do with it. I really wish the film had gone a bit deeper.
