Blitz: Does Anyone Else Find It Underrated??

For me, watching the “Blitz” is like experiencing a totally new kind of Horror that I have never done before. The mainstream of War movies used to feature how cruel and violent the battlefield was, but “Blitz” is pointing out what a war can do to destroy your daily life. Some people say the story of a lost child finding his mother is boring, but I think Steve McQueen has done a really great job on the sound and montage to make the story work. I never felt so anxious when the bomb whistle and the air-raid sirens wails. There are many other things worth our attention, too. Like this is my first time seeing WWII film presenting the image of fire fighters.

ThomasBabalola: I really like this article! Got a few free minutes? I wrote a completely UNserious analysis of the epic showdown between John Wick Vs Frank Castle. If you enjoy a good laugh with your action, give it a read and maybe a like!Frank Castle vs. John Wick: The Bulldozer Bulldozes the Ballet Dancer. (A clearly logical and unbiased analysis)

So bad that they are good for me

In the tastes of cinema there are many nuances and very subjective opinions, between the good and the bad, the fun and the boring. But the truth is that there are movies that I myself accept that they are not the best to deserve an award, however for me they are movies that I can watch over and over again without getting bored, such as Prince of Persia, In Time, Green Snake, among others. So in this article I want to tell you without shame those movies or series that can easily be my guilty plea

Hot comment: Tienes razón esas películas son tan malas que son buenas en especial principe de Persia la he visto como 1000 veces

Arcane: The Glorification of Emotionality.

Once again it's my turn to talk about a recent series from the last 50 days, and what better way to talk about the one that, in my opinion, closed with a flourish its glorification as the best animated series ever, my dear and beloved Arcane. I never was (and never will be) a fan of LOL; however, around the same time, but three years ago, this particular series started to catch my attention. I decided to watch a review or two about it and was fascinated by its animation style, and of course, it

marvelousmars: I cannot explain this... but for a second I thought the Kraven poster was a part of the Mufasa poster. I was impressed that Disney was really leaning into the "daddy" vibes 😂 To answer your question, though, I'm definitely looking forward to checking out Nosferatu and The War of the Rohirrim. Mostly, though, I'll be watching old Christmas classics and Christmas specials!

“Here”, the charm of exploring life in the flutter of the hummingbird.

Would you like to travel in time? Let’s do it through "Here" (2024). Do you suspect that some of the protagonists have taken "The Substance"? No, keep calm. "Here" uses a generative AI technology resource, Metaphysic Live, to reduce the age of actors in real time. Once this point is clarified, let’s give free rein to nostalgia and enjoy without reservation this controversial and unique cinematographic proposal. The plot, from its deep simplicity, finds in everyday life the way to eternalize bein

Kieran Culkin is an Empath Enigma in A Real Pain

On Tuesday night, as the rest of the world poured into Wicked, I slipped into the neighbouring theatre where I, and a surprisingly decent amount of others, took in Jesse Eisenberg's latest effort as writer/director/actor: A Real Pain. I expected this movie to deliver a funny, heartfelt meditation on brotherhood. What I received, instead, was a funny, difficult movie about dealing with past and the trauma that comes with it. This excellent, 90-minute tour through Poland is anchored by a potential

The MOST Gut-Wrenching Deaths EVER: Why Greys Anatomy's Lexie Grey and Mark Sloan deserved a better ending

Why is it that the best characters on films and tv series often gets the worst ending? Grey's Anatomy is one of those comfort tv series where people can easily get attached to the characters. I find that the first few seasons of Grey's Anatomy were indeed the best and I will not get over. Especially the death of Lexie Grey and Mark Sloan.. Grey's Anatomy currently has 21 seasons, but I find myself watching only the first 11 seasons before going back to the beginning and rewatching it again. Seas

The Era of Rewriting Oz’s Wicked Witch Has Arrived!

We’ve stepped into a new era. Gone are the days when the Wicked Witch of the West was nothing more than a green-skinned villain with an evil laugh. With Wicked (2024), we’re now looking at a new kind of witch—one that’s not just misunderstood but one who challenges the very idea of what it means to be “wicked.” This is the moment when Oz’s most iconic figure gets a much-needed makeover, not just in terms of her appearance, but in how we perceive her power, her struggles, and her relationships. K-Dramas Are Redefining the Alpha Male

Having watched Korean dramas for over a decade, I've witnessed the evolution of many tropes, none more iconic than the "alpha male." This type pf characters has long been a staple of the genre; they are often portrayed as charming but arrogant figures whose treatment of women can range from indulgent to downright disrespectful. But here’s the twist: the "alpha male" isn’t dying; he’s just evolving. At a time when Western media is still churning out these irresistible but condescending alpha men—

It's Just One of Those Days... Y2K Gives Nostalgia, Laughs and So Many Freestyles

Fifteen years ago, when I was sitting around with my buddies, keeled-over laughing at GoodNeighborStuff videos on YouTube, I never imagined that, in 2024, I'd walk into a cinema to watch the directorial debut of Kyle Mooney, a founding member of GoodNeighborStuff and his own YouTube channel. But, after Mooney's successful run on Saturday Night Live and a decent-enough outing as co-writer and star of 2017's Brigsby Bear, A24 has decided to distribute his directorial debut, Y2K, produced in partne

Lindsay Lohan Is Becoming the Cheesiest Queen of Christmas Movies

Lindsay Lohan’s career revival may not have taken Hollywood by storm, but it’s definitely decked the halls of streaming platforms. From Falling for Christmas in 2022 to Our Little Secret this year, with the vaguely holiday-themed flick Irish Wish sandwiched in between, Lohan seems determined to carve out a niche for herself as the reigning queen of Christmas rom-coms. And while her films are, in all fairness, objectively terrible, there’s something oddly comforting about their predictable charm.

From Mob Leader to Korean President: Jung-min Hwang's Portrayal of Good & Evil

Hwang Jung-min as Chun Doo-hwan in The Seoul Spring, aka 12·12: The Day (2024). Hello, Peliplaters! In Western culture, organized crime is often synonymous with the Italian Mafia, particularly as depicted in The Godfather (1972). Deliberately speaking thoughts grounded in principles, Marlon Brando's portrayal of mafia boss Vito Corleone embodies aristocratic grace. The Godfather has profoundly shaped Western cinema, leaving traces of Vito Corleone visible in countless mafia boss characters—until

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim -- You Wanna Know How I Got These Scars?

Some weeks, you finally get to watch the movie you actually want to watch. It was a privilege to watch the French-Canadian indie Phoenixes. Gladiator II was the movie of the moment and I felt a sense of duty to go see it. And it was a fun, nostalgic trip to sit through Y2K. WFF24 | Phoenixes Exposes Canada's Lie

Playing like a diary from director Jonathan Beaulieu-Cyr's childhood, Phoenixes (fr: Phénix) tells a story of time in memoriam, about community and community lost. Its examination of how world events can impact local communities even before they happen creates a fascinating sense of impending doom in a pastoral setting. Beautifully shot by cinematographer Ariane Falardeau St-Amour, with vivid colours (especially the greens and blues), Phoenixes is a visual treat. However, when the movie gets awa

The Children's Train Was the Perfect Christmas Movie

When you imagine the perfect Christmas movie, it’s probably something warm and cheery, right? Even if it isn't, I doubt you’d imagine a film about a man reflecting on how he left his mother when he was a child. After watching The Children’s Train with my family this Christmas, though, I can say with certainty that despite what it sounds like, it’s the perfect premise for a Christmas movie. It’s one of, if not the best holiday film I’ve seen in a long time - and it’s one worth watching even now t

JUROR #2: The eternal punishment of giving up the truth

“Always make the audience suffer as much as possible.” If there's something Alfred Hitchcock knew how to masterfully execute during his whole career, it was the twisted mind game he proposed to his audience. His words comprising the quote that introduces this article weren't in vain and his vision is probably one of the most inspiring ones in cinema history. Only a few have managed to follow in his footsteps and even though copying or reinventing what he did isn't necessary, being part of his le

Netflix's best Christmas gift: Carry-On

I had never seen Taron Egerton run so much. He can probably be a great replacement for Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible saga—when Tom Cruise announces his retirement from the saga, I will cry, believe me. Or probably, Ethan Kopek's intelligence presented in Netflix's best Christmas gift may put him on the radar for the James Bond role that Daniel Craig left after 15 years of playing him. Who knows? The British actor has a blast in every movie and, just for that, we have to be th

MUFASA, or how to genuinely reconnect with our inner child

An idea has been running circles in my mind for a couple months now: I started to think about the circle of life. This probably happens to every person in their thirties since we are almost in the middle of our lives. We look back, trying to fix as many good memories in our minds as possible, but also trying to visualize an idealized future suitable for our wishes and goals. I could describe it as a middle ground in which we fight to not get stuck in the past but also to avoid planning the futur
