Still of “The Brutalist” Though the story is set almost entirely in Pennsylvani

marvelousmars: I haven't watched most of these, but I'm definitely going to check them out now! I definitely disagree with Forsch on Juror #2, though. The film had an interesting theme, sure, but didn't seem to know what to do with it. I really wish the film had gone a bit deeper.

Long Runtimes - Love or Hate?

The Golden Globe winning film for best Drama, The Brutalist, runs for over 3 hours and includes a 15 minute intermission. Director Brady Corbet staunchly defends his right to make his movie that long, saying that “it's okay for Superhero films to be three hours long, and yet when you're making a drama about adults for adults by adults, that it's like, ‘Well, you have to mop this all up in 90 minutes.’” Do you avoid movies that are overly long? Or do you think its justified sometimes?

Lucas Friesen: A movie's story should dictate its length. If a movie is 3 hours, it better take three hours to tell the story. Nothing worse than a long movie that feels like it should have been shorter (Close Your Eyes, I'm looking at you).
