Tell Me Your Gladiator 2 First Reactions

I'm not sure if such a classic film should have a sequel. A sequel might ruin this classic. But fortunately, it seems that the movie's reviews are pretty good.

Chandler_AH: No matter what, Ridley Scott’s movies are always a must-watch for me. I mean, the guy’s still making films at his age—that’s seriously impressive!

Are the new icons the classics?

Hi! To begin with it is good to clarify who make up generation Z and they are (if I am not mistaken) those born between 1995 and 2012, but you can correct me in the comments. But the topic I want to touch is not the date they were born but the icons that this generation considers representatives of their era. For example I remember that my dad was a big fan of the series EL ZORRO or RAMBO and TERMINATOR. But those movies are already considered old (for many of us we prefer to call them classics)

Jhonatan Ponce (ponceelrelajado): I completely agree with you, you forgot to include Wednesday or "Merlina" in Spanish, I've already lost count of how many times I've seen that in things for girls

The Wild Robot — The Best DreamWorks Animation Film?

One month ago, DreamWorks Animation released The Wild Robot, an adaptation of a kids science fiction novel. This film had been receiving extremely positive reviews from critics. Now, it has become a box office success. It's being praised by everyone. People say it's definitely winning Oscar for Best Animated Feature and call it “The Best DreamWorks Film Ever”. Is all that true? Why? “A multi-task high-tech service robot (Roz) ends up stranded on an uninhabited island. Now must adapt to nature in

Roman History to Know Before Watching Gladiator II

With Gladiator II on the horizon, my anticipation is through the roof. As a sequel to the 2000 classic, Gladiator II takes place two decades after the original film's events. When I first watched Gladiator, I was captivated by Maximus’s heroism but also skeptical about its historical accuracy—could Maximus really just kill an emperor so openly in the arena? As I delved into Roman history, it became clear that there were many liberties taken. Let’s start with the original Gladiator. First, Maximu

HBO'S The Last Of Us - Two Years Later

With the second season of HBO’s The Last Of US waiting just around the corner to bite us on the neck this April I wanted to take another look at season 1. I recently rewatched the season courtesy of my sexy new 4k Blu ray set that I played on my sexy new 4k Panasonic player. I don't know what exactly to call this: a review, a retrospective, a critical analysis, I just know I wanted to give it another look 2 years after its release in January 2023. The TLOU show was why I started a YouTube channe

Gladiator II Gives Us Bread and Circuses, but is That Enough?

Twenty-four years after the original, Ridley Scott returns to the Roman Empire with Gladiator II, this time enrolling Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal and Denzel Washington to bring the great civilization back to the silver screen. Gladiator II is loaded with visually stunning scenes and top-notch action, but it struggles to develop an interesting plot that isn’t full of simplistic, repetitive dialogue. This time around, Mescal is our champion. He plays Lucius (aka Hanno), the son of Russell Crowe’s Ma

Do We Need Gladiators Anymore?

Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II is just around the corner (by the time I was writing this), and I can’t say I’m not intrigued. But as I sit here, freshly acquainted with the original 2000 Gladiator—yes, it took me 24 years to finally watch it—I’m left wondering if we truly need another grand tale of revenge, honor, and heroism in 2024. Let me make one thing clear: Gladiator is a great movie. The sweeping battles, Hans Zimmer’s hauntingly beautiful score, Russell Crowe’s magnetic performance—there’s

Knee-Jerk Reactions to Materialists Trailer?

The trailer is here for A24's new movie, Materialists. It stars Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. It's written and directed by Celine Song, creator of Past Lives. Based on the trailer, we know that Johnson is a matchmaker. She seems to be caught between an old love, Evans, and a new love, Pascal. Evans is poor and handsome. Pascal is rich and handsome. Which will she choose?? The movie is set for a June 13 release. Did you see the trailer? What did you think? Will you be seated in the theatre for this? Let me know in the comments below! Gladiator 2: Excess and indulgence galore... but still fun if you're willing to go along with the ride. It really feels like there was a pretty great movie in there somewhere, and Denzel gives a fantastic performance, but the movie literally jumps the shark(s) about halfway through.

marvelousmars: I keep seeing people talk about this movie, so I was still kind of considering watching it even though it's not a genre I have any interest in. I think you've just saved me the time, though, so thanks hahaha
