"Conclave", and the more political than religious drama of the new Pope

This movie is like a Catholic Game of Thrones. Mysteries, backstabs and a lot of gossip just to become the new Pope in this unortodox conclave. Cardinal Lawrence (Ralph Fiennes) is in charge of directing and organizing a conclave to elect a new Pope after the surprising death of the previous one. But this conclave is a war between the more liberal Cardinal Bellini (Stanley Tucci), the ridicoulusly conservative and fundamentalist Cardinal Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto), a kind of moderate with a da

Sometimes we're left in silence, only for a scene, a line of dialogue, or purely just a sound clip, to suddenly resurface in our daily lives. This kind of resonance defies description. Yet wherever we are, whenever it happens, we can find freedom in this. Even if that freedom lasts just a moment, it reminds us that we exist in a vast expanse rather than an endless void. The beauty of resonance lies

5 Films From VIFF 2024 That Deserve Your Attention

From September 26th to October 6th I attended the 43rd annual Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), during which I saw 21 feature films. VIFF Season is my favourite time of the year because I find myself discovering films I’ve never heard of and probably never would have seen otherwise, oftentimes before a trailer has even been cut for the film. I’ve been attending VIFF regularly for 7 years now, and have been fortunate enough to see films such as Parasite, Marriage Story, The Whale, Por

Quentin Tarantino's "Manson Family": The Newest Dominators of Hollywood?

Quentin Tarantino has always been known for revitalizing the careers of veteran actors. From John Travolta (Pulp Fiction) to Pam Grier and Robert Forster (Jackie Brown), from David Carradine (Kill Bill) to Kurt Russell (Death Proof), these kinds of cool and effective casting choices have been one of the reasons why the films by Tarantino have a unique flavor. It is also a way for him to engage in a dialogue with his beloved history of cinema. But in his last film, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,
