Nosferatu Sucks!

I'm not a fan of Robert Eggers and he did not win me over with Nosferatu. I will give him credit for the movie's authentic staging and gothic cinematography. However, its uninteresting characters and tired story make Nosferatu an insufferable watch. I left the theatre wondering why Eggers insists on taking himself so seriously. Given his background in production design, it is logical that Eggers would thrive in the realm of design and staging. In Nosferatu, I loved the recreation of 1830s' Germa

Bob Woolsey: I enjoyed this film, but only after I realised I couldn't take it seriously and I had to view it from arm's length. Can I just ask, why did they give Orlok that moustache? I still can't get over it. I loved the artistry of the film, and it's clear that Eggers purposefully doted over every detail... but then there's that moustache! I couldn't take any of his vampiring seriously once I saw it. It's just so bushy and hearty. It doesn't look like it's the same age as the character at all and it makes the design kind of comical for me. I also found Willem Dafoe's character to be comical - mostly because he takes the supernatural stuff so seriously. There were audible laughs in my theatre and I don't think Egger's intended for them. However, when I just suspended my disbelief and went along for the storybook ride, I did have some fun. And that final scene was great.

This past boxing day I took my dad to see ‘Nosferatu’, the new movie by director Robert Eggers, staring Lily-Rose Depp, Nicholas Hoult, Emma Corrin and Willem Dafoe. My dad is an award-winning cinematographer, and I am a film student, so it just made sense for us to watch the movie on the big screen. It was worth it. The name ‘Nosferatu’ may ring a bell (if you know anything about film history, or are into horror classics, or the art movement called German Expressionism). It is because this stor

Nosferatu (2025): Masterpiece of Contemporary Horror (Version en Inglés)

Horror cinema has been a constantly evolving genre, and few directors have managed to reinvent it as masterfully as Robert Eggers. His version of “Nosferatu (2025)” not only pays homage to the 1922 classic directed by F.W. Murnau, but reinterprets it in a unique way, bringing his signature stamp of detailed setting, psychological horror, and a stunning visual style. With impeccable direction, masterful performances, and an aesthetic that evokes the best of expressionist cinema, this film stands

Nosferatu, A Feast of Delightful Gothic Cinema

First, this film is not for just any audience. It is a movie that is best for those of a very particular palate. Those who appreciate and understand the many nuances and layering that only Gothic literary art and film at its finest provide. Originally, I had intended to write this article under the Fresh Film Focus, and while it should be under that category as well I determined it best to apply it to the WTF moments. First, this is a movie that covers many sensitive topics and it has an abundan
