Any Reactions to the Netflix New Hit Adolescence?

I just finished watching it, and it totally blew my mind. It's definitely more than a hit. Four episodes, four shots. I have never seen anything like it, and I'm sure it's gonna be a game changer. Such a great inspiration to filmmakers.

Adventureland: An Overrated Comedy

I think this film was overrated at the time. I had read about Adventureland as an underrated film, and the truth is, now I understand why it's actually an exercise in nostalgia for many viewers at the time or currently. Because in addition to transporting you back to the 80s, a very beautiful time for me (or so it seems from the costumes and music), it perfectly captures complex themes that many of us have experienced during our adolescence and entering into adulthood. Here's a little explanatio

ADOLESCENCE 2025: #AdolescenceNeverExisted (3:47 AM)

Initial Brushstrokes THE SEQUENCE SHOT THAT TURNED US INTO WITNESSES? At 3:17 AM, with the blue light of Netflix devouring my pupils, I understood something terrible: Long-term shots aren't a cinematic device. They're cinema's way of tying you to your chair and yelling, "Watch this carefully, son of a bitch. This isn't a metaphor. This happens." And then, in the midst of that tracking shot that won't let you escape, you ask yourself: How many Jamies have I passed while their fathers' camionetas

Adolescence and the Hereditary Curse of Toxic Masculinity

A Social Issues Drama Wrapped in Dazzling Form Netflix, a platform almost synonymous with mediocre content, has finally delivered a major hit. Adolescence is a four-episode limited series starring, co-written, and co-produced by the seasoned British actor Stephen Graham (The Irishman, Help, Swimming with Men). It’s also executive-produced by Brad Pitt—his former collaborator from Snatch—and tackles highly topical issues of youth crime and misogynistic culture. With such a powerful combination, t

Adolescence: Emojis as Language 😵‍💫

No matter your age group, you likely use emojis when texting. Maybe you don’t use them frequently, but they're a good way to quickly convey emotion and communicate feelings. I started using emojis as soon as I got my first phone privileges. I use them to enhance the tone of my texts because, in today’s world, texting is a sincere form of communication, and how you do it matters. A period at the end of a sentence can make you seem annoyed or angry, but adding an emoji can soften the blow. We’ve b

marvelousmars: God I love language so much and that includes emojis. I think I'll have to watch Adolescence, if only as a form of linguistic/anthropological study. The youth... so fascinating hahaha

ADOLESCENCE: A BRUTAL AND UNFORGIVING LOOK AT UPBRINGING

Some series entertain you. Others disturb you. Adolescence does both. This limited series is capable of unearthing any hidden sadness within you, dragging you into its depths with an almost suffocating realism. It is raw, relentless, and immersive—not just in its themes but in its execution. The continuous filming style makes you feel like an invisible witness, carried by the camera, forced to see what it wants you to see. It’s not just storytelling—it’s an experience. But what makes Adolescence

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood: The comedy of the stars of the past, present and future.

You may read the premise of this article being a complete cult movie buff and ask yourself, How can you consider "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" an underrated comedy when everyone else saw it? To which I will answer you with a different approach than the one you have about this movie. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I call it an underrated comedy beyond its own humor (which is very good), but for its great social impact by bringing out what would be the new generation of actresses in the current

'Adolescence', the current audiovisual sensation.

Adolescence is undeniably the current audiovisual sensation. This four-episode Netflix drama begins with 13-year-old Jamie Miller being arrested and accused of murdering a girl of his class. The charges against the youngster compel his family to face the worst nightmare possible. The episodes have been divided into (1) the arrest of the youngster, (2) the police investigation to determine the cause for the murder, (3) the alleged murderer's fifth session with the psychologist, and (4) the family

It sucks no matter how hard you scream, so just let go

I quite like Anora (2025) for how it touches on the pulse of the era, or rather, the mindsets of Gen Alpha. I know a lot of you see it as mediocore or at least not worthy of an Oscars, but here's my take on what might have led it to the honor. Speaking of the mindsets of Gen Alpha, the film sums it up best in Toro's (the Godfather played by Karren Karagulian) complaints at the restaurant. He asks one by one about where Vanya (Mark Eydelshteyn ) is, but no one knows anything. They just shrug and

2025's Most Thought-Provoking Show on Netflix and It's Only Four Episodes

Netflix has never been one to shy away from making shows that encourage conversations. Mindhunter taught us about the psychology of well-known serial killers, and Baby Reindeer broke the taboo of male sexual abuse and stalking. This year, a new Netflix miniseries, Adolescence, is only four episodes long and is the most thought-provoking series I've seen this year. A Gripping Tale of Crime and Consequence As soon as the show starts, Adolescence has the police break into a scared Jamie Miller's ho

Netflix redeemed itself: What's ADOLESCENCE, its great new series, about?

“There's a pandemic of knife crime in our country. And it just really hurt my heart.” This was what seasoned British actor Stephen Graham said, almost on the verge of tears, in an interview where he talked about his new Netflix project in which he didn't take on the role of director, but of the absolute creative mind behind this more than interesting audiovisual work I will comment on further below. A work in which the object of analysis is clearly and specifically human nature, an appealing top

Adolescence: We Don’t Want to Watch This Show, but We Have To

Netflix’s Adolescence (2025) is a punishing watch. Created by Jack Thorne and Stephen Graham, directed by Philip Barantini, this four-episode British drama unfolds through relentless one-hour-long single takes. It’s suffocating, unflinching, and deeply uncomfortable—but that’s exactly why we need to talk about it. The series revolves around 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) who's accused of fatally stabbing his female classmate. Each episode peels back another layer of the case, shifting pe

'Adolescence' and Its Espresso-style One-Take

Author's Note: Are aesthetics of a TV series worth analyzing? Critics typically discuss TV shows from a topical perspective. While viewers often praise a show's cinematography and art design in their reviews, they tend to use descriptions like "cinematic" or "each episode is like a big movie" as compliments. Though well-intentioned, these comments suggest that a TV show's highest aesthetic achievement is simply to resemble film. This reflects our limited vocabulary when analyzing TV aesthetics—c

Adolescence Pricked the Bubbles of Adolescence

The older generation often unconsciously interprets the next generation through their own life experiences or simplifies their differences into a single category—educational issues, environmental factors, or government regulations. In fact, young people's development is a highly complex process. In Adolescence (2025), director Philip Barantini explores this issue through four distinct perspectives. Hello, Peliplaters! Adolescence is extraordinary. I wanted to write a review as soon as I finished

‘Adolescence’: How To Make The Terrifying Species in England?

In the final scene of “Adolescence,” Eddie Miller finally gathers the courage to enter his son’s room. As he thinks about the 13-year-old boy’s impending trial and sentencing for murder, he breaks down on the bed. Kissing the teddy bear on the pillow and tugging it under the blanket, the "strong" father sobs uncontrollably, “I’m sorry, son. I should’ve done better.” Still of “Adolescence” Yet Eddie, along with his wife and daughter—an ordinary English family—had already done their best in raisin

Netflix: My Savior from "Brain Rot”

In late 2024, Oxford University Press chose "brain rot" as its Word of the Year, defining it as "a deterioration in mental and intellectual capacity due to excessive consumption of valueless or unchallenging material (especially online content)." While critics have long dismissed Netflix's productions as quintessential low-quality content, I've discovered—particularly after watching Adolescence (2025)—that Netflix's distribution model might actually be our salvation from brain rot. If blood will flow When flesh and steel are one Drying in the colour of the evening sun Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away But something in our minds will always stay Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetime's argument That nothing comes from violence And nothing ever could For all those born beneath an angry star Lest we forget how fragile we are On and on the rain will fall Like tears from a star Like tears from a star On and on the rain will say How fragile we are How frag
