The Escort (2019)

Tina and Brad endure a bitter, listless marriage in their late 40's. They exist as hermits on a country property where Tina attempts to provide normalcy while Brad self-medicates. Longing for the children she will never have, Tina is overwhelmed when a young boy mysteriously appears on their driveway. Ushering him in from the rain, she is delighted by the presence of this adorable child, attempting to delude herself into visions of motherhood while Brad's irritation with his presence and Tina's exuberance visibly grows. The boy views Tina as an irritant which makes sense as we glean that the boy is actually the Grim Reaper attempting to escort Brad to the afterlife. Tina wakes from this nightmare in relief, unaware that the dream was a precognition of the death of Brad who lies motionless in bed.
