Fudo

As a college freshman, Fudo was one of 12 out of 500 applicants admitted to the USC, arguably the finest cinema school in the world. The education helped launch his career as a WGAw screenwriter working for the likes of Universal Studios, Brian Graser & Ron Howard and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. But the artist within knew something was amiss. Technique without real life experience was a recipe for derivative mediocrity. A health scare and an extended brush with his own mortality changed all that. Looking inward ultimately led Fudo to a dark night of the soul, a spiritual awakening and true healing. It also unlocked his long forgotten childhood dream: become a musician and front a rock band. He picked up his first guitar at age 29, moved to Northern California and learned to sing and write songs. In short order, he assembled a band. It was called "Baby Seal Club." ( http://tinyurl.com/conveyor-belt ) Steeped in Burning Man culture (their seal held the club), it reached its creative zenith by opening for "Love Shack" creators The B-52s. For Fudo, it was a dream come true. When the band no longer played on, Fudo returned to filmmaking with "The Escort" (2019). It was an auspicious exercise in screenwriting, directing & producing (to help an actor friend who wanted a portfolio piece) that to his delight received recognition at several California film festivals.* Fudo's passion for filmmaking was reignited. And, now, as a more wizened soul and artist, he is stepping behind the camera to tell irreverent stories with humor, heart, and artfulness--the kind of stories he always dreamed of telling in Hollywood. Fudo's work as a Sex, Intimacy & Relationship Coach helped inform his next project -- a dark comedy feature about sexual desire, intimacy and food to be shot in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
