Between 1900 and 1963, the British company La Forestal exploited the quebracho colorado in Argentina. Ricardo Wullicher's film, set in the Chaco in the 1910s, portrays the struggle of the hacheros, subjected to inhumane conditions by British businessmen with the support of the authorities, the police and a paramilitary force. A testimony of labor exploitation and the rise of trade unionism.
