"""Cinema is a way of life. Over time and through work, I discovered that the role of cinema is the role of the storyteller. A film director is a modern-day minstrel. We tell stories and warn about what is happening.""
Ricardo Wullicher was an Argentine film director known for his contributions to national cinema and his work in documentaries. He trained at the Centro Experimental Cinematográfico, now ENERC, and made his debut with Quebracho (1974), a national and international success that depicts the history of "La Forestal," a British company dedicated to exploiting quebracho trees in Argentina. His most notable films include La casa de las sombras (1976), Saverio, el cruel (1977), Borges para millones (1978), and Como un pájaro libre (1983), a documentary about singer Mercedes Sosa. In 1995, he released La nave de los locos. During Raúl Alfonsín's presidency, Wullicher led the Instituto Nacional de Cine alongside Manuel Antín, playing a key role in revitalizing Argentina's film industry after the end of censorship."
