Storyline: Between 1900 and 1963, the English company La Forestal exploited the quebracho colorado in Argentina. Ricardo Wullicher's film, set in the Chaco in the 1910s, portrays the struggle of the hacheros, subjected to inhumane conditions by British businessmen with the backing of the authorities, the police and a paramilitary force. Their exploitation became the axis of political and social struggles linked to the rise of trade unionism.
