The Asphalt Fever (1967)

After two miscarriages, and years of hopes and insecurities, Elli, the weary wife of the conscientious police sergeant, Officer Merkos, is about to have her first baby. However, a life-threatening complication before the operation will trigger a frenzied hunt for a precious phial of the blood of a rare type, against the backdrop of the city's empty night streets. In the meantime, a dangerous escaped asylum inmate is on the loose, putting in jeopardy the very lives of thirty innocent children on a field trip. Now, Merkos is between a rock and a hard place, as time is running out. Will he choose personal happiness over duty?
