Hercules Bellville, who was born in San Diego, California, has worked in the film business, both in Europe and the United States for over 40 years. Bellville worked as an Assistant Director on Roman Polanski's Repulsion (1965), beginning a long association with the director. They continued to work together on Cul-de-Sac (1966), Macbeth (1971), What (1972), The Tenant (1976), Tess (1979) and Pirates (1986). Bellville was later Director of Creative Affairs at Hal Ashby's company Northstar for several years, and was involved in such films as Being There (1981), starring Peter Sellers, and Bob Rafaelson's The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981), starring Jack Nicholson. In 1983 he co-produced Stranger's Kiss, starring Peter Coyote and Victoria Tennant. Since 1984 Bellville has been in charge of Creative Affairs at Recorded Picture Company (of which he is a director). He was involved in the production of films such as Bernardo Bertolucci's The Last Emperor (1987) and The Sheltering Sky (1990), David Cronenberg's Naked Lunch (1991) and Crash (1996), and was co-producer of Bob Rafaelson's Blood and Wine (1996), starring Jack Nicholson, Michael Caine and Jennifer Lopez. He was Associate Producer of Jeremy Thomas' All The Little Animals (1997), starring John Hurt, Jonathan Glazer's Sexy Beast (2000), starring Sir Ben Kingsley and Bernardo Bertolucci's The Dreamers (2003).
