Storyline:  In 1970s Paris, Trelkovsky, a shy émigré, rents an apartment whose previous tenant, Simone Choule, tried to kill herself. As he endures the building's oppressive rules and bizarre neighbors, he becomes convinced they’re trying to turn him into Simone and drive him to suicide. Paranoia turns into delusion as Trelkovsky loses his grip on reality.
