Composer, saxophonist, songwriter ("Night Is Gone"), and arranger, educated at Bushwick High School in Brooklyn, New York. He was a saxophonist and arranger for the orchestras of Henry Jerome (for which he wrote the theme "Night Is Gone"), Tommy Dorsey (1944-1949), Jimmy Dorsey, Ziggy Elman, Skitch Henderson, and Sy Oliver, and also for other radio and television orchestras. He was a member of the NBC staff orchestra from 1954 to 1959. Joining ASCAP in 1958, his other popular-song and instrumental compositions include "Piccolo Polka", "Saxology", "Clarinet Cascades", "Cooper Union", and "Eiffel Tower".
