“The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It” is too average, lacking a villain like in The Nun, and there are no standout (haunted house) scenes to help build the underlying tension. The villain's backstory is too general and vague with unclear motivations, and much of it just can't be glossed over with a line or two. The use of love to repel the demon is so lightweight. James Wan shouldn't always be trusting his painstakingly built IP to these perfunctory new writers and directors...
