Boston Blackie

When a murder occurs on an ocean liner docked in New York, the trail leads to Coney Island and a spy ring.

A murder is committed during the auction of a valuable statue. The prime suspect is Boston Blackie, whose reputation for living on the edge of the law makes him an easy target for the police. When the body disappears, Blackie must find it to prove his innocence.

Blackie tracks down a wrongly convicted prisoner who escapes during a Christmas magic show.

Boston Blackie and his pal, The Runt, are ready to board a train for Florida when Blackie gets a telegram from his friend Arthur Manleder asking Blackie to go to Manleder's New York apartment, get $60,000 from a wall safe and fly to Hollywood. Blackie has just removed the money when Police Inspector Farraday and his assistant, Sergeant Matthews arrive and accuse him of robbery. They let him escape so they can follow as they think he knows something about the stolen Monterey Diamond. Blackie arrives in Hollywood and learns that Manleder has fallen for Gloria Lane, in cahoots with a gang of crooks, and had been holding the missing diamond in trust for the owner. Gloria had asked Arthur to let her wear the diamond and it was stolen. Two gangsters had appeared at the apartment and offered to recover the diamond for $60,000, which had prompted the telegram to Blackie. The two crooks also steal the money from The Runt. Blackie's plan to catch the crooks and recover the money and the diamond goes awry when another crook, Slick Barton, steals both from his two crook pals. Farraday and Matthews now arrive and accuse Blackie of both thefts.

Boston Blackie, ex-convict and amateur magician, is doing his act at a prison-for-women, and an inmate takes the opportunity to do her own disappearing act while Blackie is doing his. Searching the apartment of Mrs. Carter's niece Doris Bradley, Blackie finds the pearls again, hidden in the lining of a coat belonging to Doris' friend Joan Howell who had been at the party and is in love with Borio. Investigating Borio, Blackie learns that the dancer's secretary, Sandra Doray, was connected with a jewel robbery in the south. He sets a trap for them, only to find the real thieves are...

Boston Blackie (Chester Morris) sponsors the parole of a group of hardened convicts so they can take up wartime-employment in a tool manufacturing plant owned by his millionaire friend Arthur Menleder. Complications arise when a gangster, "Nails" Blanton (Douglas Fowley), frames one of the paroled convicts, Dooley Watson (Erik Rolf), for a murder. Blackie, a reformed jewel thief, has to employ some of his amateur magician tricks and he and his very small sidekick, The Runt (George E. Stone), also do a cross-dressing bit , which is not a pretty sight, in order to prove the innocence of Wilson. .
