Ama, an albino schoolteacher suffering from Nightmare Disorder, arrives at an orphanage for children with severe deformities caused by the "great chemical disaster." She is welcomed by the odd principal, Miss Olivier, the frightening but lovely children, the aloof, polydactyl gardener Lucas, and the charming doctor Walsh. Everything appears delightful until Ama's medications run out, and her pupil, Eliza, is adopted. Bizarre events begin to occur.
