On 9 July 2006, Italian football reached the top of the world: Italy won its fourth World Cup trophy, beating historic rivals France in the final. A historic victory for an extraordinary group of athletes who, thanks to a remarkable cohesion, managed to overcome all the difficulties met on their path, all the way to their final triumph. The Italian national team, in that month of fantastic matches, of joys and sorrows, was even stronger than the sum of its individualities. The story we recount is the first-hand narrative of that month, between June and July 2006, through the voices of the coach and players who achieved that feat accompanied by those of international journalists and guests.
