Boogaloo shrimp forged his American Dream by overcoming the odds. During the wild 1980s, the story follows the trials and struggles of an unlikely group from Wilmington and Long Beach. Michael along with his Latinx friends grow to share an unbreakable bond, rooted in the art of Latin culture. Through their street smarts, as well as becoming a revolutionary dance group, they navigate through the newfound pressures of fame in an entertainment community that didn't look, sound or make moves like them. Tested by all their wits and skills, Boogaloo Shrimp and his friends turn against gang life while also helping create a foundation in street dance that continues to influence modern culture.
