Noah and Livi have been together since high school, and it shows. He's bored, wears his emotions on his sleeve, and wonders what life would be like if he hadn't met her and focused more on maintaining friendships. To escape his everyday life, where he believes Livi is overbearing and controlling, he indulges in odd hobbies, watches videos of birds, and spends most of his free time in his car, screaming. The repetition has the unhappy couple on edge. That all changes for Noah when he meets Ethan. Ethan is everything Noah fantasizes he could be. He's single (sort of), a business owner (Ethan's Barbershop), and marches to the beat of his own, very unique drum. Ethan is also tidally locked into a strangely codependent relationship with his childhood best friend Toby, for whom he started a business to spend all his time with by hiring. Their unwilling third wheel of a "best friend" Jaughn, who shares zero personality traits with Ethan and Toby, is sick of the immature approach Ethan takes to running the shop and struggles to keep them in line. Jaughn finds himself wrapped up in their antics, whether he likes it or not. A chance encounter between Noah and Ethan turns the man-child into Noah's self proclaimed spirit guide of sorts. The two embark on a journey where Ethan promises that Noah will learn the meaning of life, but in the end, they all question the ones they live. A ripple from the unlikely bromance occurs as Livi, Toby, Jaughn and Ethan's love interest Maddison all feel the affect, as they question the relationships they share with the two themselves.
