Celebration Nation is a suburban party supply store that looks like the lovechild of Ru Paul's Drag Race and that Spider-Man musical where all those actors were injured: it's over-the-top, out of control, and cut some corners where they definitely shouldn't have. Its central employees, 20-somethings Mimi, Alice and Shay, are three kinds of people you've 100% worked with or been served by - the one who's always stressed, the alarmingly enthusiastic one, and the one who'd rather be on actual fire than working. They're joined by other retail archetypes: a Gina Liano-looking boss who's always on the hunt for a tax break, a middle-aged part-timer who works here because it's a bit of fun to leave the house, and a skater indie boy who's going to quit this job as soon as his DJ career blows up. Outrageously funny and stupidly festive, each episode is set on a different chaotic holiday and observes the events of the day, whether it's bad luck on Lunar New Year, a crush on a customer on Valentine's Day, a staff Christmas party, or just trying to hit the target so you can actually go home on New Year's Eve. And occasionally things take a turn into the super surreal, like when there's a wave of frantic Brits on the Queen's Birthday or a possession by the Ghost of Good Customer Service on Halloween. Whatever happens, our leading ladies will always check if you need a hand with anything or if you're happy just browsing.
