Reconstruction is a dramatic thriller that explores one of the most tumultuous and significant periods in our nation's history. Antoine Dubuclet, an aristocrat whose father is a white man descended from French royalty and whose mother was a slave from the Ivory Coast, owns over 200 slaves and is master of a successful sugar cane plantation outside New Orleans in 1863. Antoine and his family take us into the luxurious and precarious world of the free elite coloreds of Louisiana.
