After the Korean Peninsula was liberated by the Allies in 1945, independent Korean governments were created three years later, on August 15, 1948. The National Liberation Day of Korea is a holiday celebrated annually on August 15. It is notable for being the only Korean public holiday celebrated by both South and North. This online event is designed to educate and create further awareness across generations of the Korea Independent's Day and how it has shaped the lives of Koreans living around the globe and to help remember this important day in Korean history. Our hope is that it will help promote growing more hopeful about the possibilities of engagement leaving behind the painful memories behind to promote peace to our future generations.
