Based on real events about an American adventurer who leaves country and family to fight Germans with the newest engine of warcraft: airplanes. Set in 1914, we follow Lt. S.E. Gane as he picks up and leaves his comfortable home in Michigan to follow his dreams of becoming a flier. We pursue his career through the war years and, finally, peace. Why would an American risk his life for another country? How does he fit in with the British class system of the time? What was it really like to be deemed a gentleman and a 'Knight of the Air'? Was there ever time for romance? Will he survive? Unwitting Survivor is based upon the adventures of Mr. Capozzoli's maternal Grandfather, S.E. Gane (1890-1972). He and his siblings would hear him tell tales of the air and about what really happened whilst he fought for Great Britain and the Allies. Recently, his older brother found an article from a Michigan newspaper confirming his stories. On the 100th anniversary of the Great War, he and his friend Ben Harper (Son of Air Marshal Sir Christopher Harper, KBE) believed that this would be a great vehicle to tell the tell of the Royal Air Corps.
