Background: Out of Focus (2017)

BACKGROUND: Out of Focus is a narrative about the lives of Malik Washington, Mariah-Yoncé Knowles and the world of Hollywood Background Actors. Malik Washington and Mariah-Yoncé are real Hollywood Stand-Ins for the A-list celebrities. While struggling to get their big acting breaks, they survive the daily grunt work of film and television production. They fight with the demands of navigating the people and the protocols of becoming a "Hollywood Star." Witnessing the harsh treatment of "Extras," Malik and his gang of misfits learn that on Hollywood sets everyone is so important and egos are a dime a dozen. Malik, Mariah and their Background Actor crew set out to break into Hollywood's circle of "Super-Stardom," before it breaks them.
