Berlin 1688. A train of Huguenots, persecuted as Protestants in Catholic France, arrives in the Brandenburg capital. Among them the stocking roller Laurent, his wife Annte, daughter Susanne and son Frédéric. The Berliners receive the refugees with hostility.
