We'll Think of Something (1986)

Les Brooks is a middle-age man facing redundancy. Not wanting to join the dole queue, Les comes up with a series of money making schemes, every one of which ends up a failure. His wife Maureen has to take a job to make enough money to keep the family going while Les is busy trying to better himself.
