Legend of the Galactic Heroes (1988)

A classic SpaceOpera, where two major empires fight between them, each having their own beliefs and ideals. On the imperial side we find "Reinhard Von Lohengram" a military genius and somehow different to the core of the corrupt noble elite, which he tries to change. On the other side in the Free Planets Coalition is Wen-Li, who joined the military to be an historian. This makes him a well known tactician, with an variety of knowledge of past military tactics. He is very driven and heroic, which makes him succeed at his own goals, essentially fighting against the corrupted democracy of his own country's government. The clash of the two main characters is addictive and somehow engaging, seeing how two different heroes with different ideals, "power vs will", always arrive to the same goal: the best for their people.
