This is the poignant story of Marina Rangel, a courageous, determined young physical therapist struggling to support her family by working at a public hospital where she meets handsome, rich Dr. Samuel Montalvan--and there begin her real troubles. Montalvan takes an instant dislike to Marina and finds an excuse to have her fired unjustly. Jobless and desperate, Marina is finally hired to work in a private home, caring for a woman who has recently become blind. It turns out, fortuitously, that her patient is none other than Dr. Samuel Montalvan's wife, the frustrated and conniving Andrea. Life at the Montalvan mansion becomes unbearable, as Marina is the constant victim of contemptuous attacks by Andrea, who cannot accept her handicap and is determined to make everyone suffer for it. Meanwhile, amidst this conflict, a deep, passionate love blossoms between Marina and Samuel, but their relationship does not stand a chance. Many surprising events and terrible coincidences conspire to keep them apart. Andrea recovers her eyesight but hides the fact to keep manipulating Samuel. Marina's former lover reappears, revealing that he is actually Samuel's brother, and causing serious problems between Samuel and Marina. When he is murdered by a jealous lover, Marina is blamed and sent to prison. Believing Marina to be his brother's killer, Samuel abandons her. Years later, Marina and Samuel meet again. Now married to another man, she assures Samuel that it is all over between them. But is it? Will the feelings they still have for each other be stronger than the obstacles they face?
