Fifteen-year-old anarchist Anteo Zamboni attempted to assassinate Mussolini in Bologna during the so-called March on Rome on October 31, 1926. He was immediately lynched by fascists. This failed assassination led to the reintroduction of the death penalty for attacks on state institutions and the outlawing of opposition parties, along with the arrest of their supporters.
