Parmak Damgasi (1985)

Adapted from a story by famous Turkish author Halikarnas Balikcisi, the story revolves around the sociql life in a coastal town during 1940s. A lady teacher comes to the town, but the community reacts to her in the first place. As time goes by, the attitude changes positively. And then, an illiterate but honest fisherman begins a love affair with the teacher. The story develops into fishermen's struggle with the sea, the agony of the women left behind without money and all other societal problems. Finally, the teacher and her fisherman lover come to the point of a decision on how to go on with their life.
