The Flight of the Kite (2004)

Is a family series that tells us the story of the Martinez family, one that is well off and without any apparent problems in life, but falls into disgrace when Luis Alfonso the head of the family is kidnapped. Ruined, the Martinez clan has to abandon their paternal home and start a new life full of difficulties. Angela, the widow has to literally scrounge for work in a medium that doesn't offer many possibilities for a forty-something housewife without any experience. Juan Salvador, the eldest son, has to rearrange his college schedule in order to start work at a company owned by an in-law uncle of his where he will become the victim of a plot to discredit him. Maria Consuelo, the conflictive elder stepdaughter, will have to juggle her time between her hospital residency and her work as assistant to a doctor who will soon attempt to seduce her. Laura and Nicholas, the two youngest will be the victims of prejudice and lack of understanding on the part of their school mates who will not cease to make fun and jeer at them when seeing them in their newly poor and needy situation.
