Honoré, known for his Parisian musical comedies, directs this feature in partnership with actresses Chiara Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve. In the story, Chiara (starring as herself), an actress and the daughter of Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine, chooses to spend a summer emulating her father. She adopts his style, speech, and mannerisms so convincingly that she begins to be referred to as "Marcello" by those around her.
