A mist-shrouded valley in 15th-century Albania. In the year 1405, in the heart of ancient Albania, Gjergj (George) Kastrioti, known as Skanderbeg, took his first breath. At a young age, he was taken hostage by the Sultan and raised and trained in his palaces. He led the Ottoman army into battle, triumphing in a series of epic and intense clashes, but it was the Battle of Nis where fate would intervene. Skanderbeg felt the cry of his homeland, a thunderous call that stirred his very core. With fire in his eyes and determination in his heart, he rallied 300 Albanian warriors, and deserted the Ottoman army forever, determined to free his homeland from the suffering caused by the Ottoman invaders. He ascended to the throne of the Albanian people, fiercely defending them with unwavering valor. His triumphs resonated far beyond his homeland's borders, transforming him into a beacon of hope and a savior against the forces of oppression for neighboring nations. In the heart of Italy's civil wars, he stood as a colossus, a warrior without equal, fighting alongside Italian kings. For 25 years, until he died from a disease, Skanderbeg stood undefeated with the small Albanian army, as a heroic sentinel between the Ottoman Empire and the European kingdoms, thwarting the Ottomans' attempts at invasion.
