Two similar yet different ballet schools for youth in Canada are profiled. In "Ballet by the Lake", it is the Wilderness Ballet Camp on the shores of Aylen Lake, and in "Dancing on the Rockies", it is the ballet program at the Banff School of Fine Arts. The similarities between the two are being populated by students who someday would like to be professional ballet dancers, each program taught by professional ballet dancers with renowned ballet companies from around the world, and the spectacular natural settings of each providing opportunities, both recreational and different ways to hone their craft. The differences are the nature of the settings themselves. In the former, it is the lake itself which provides most of those opportunities, both in partaking in water sports and using the powers of the water for otherwise dry-land activities. In the latter, it is the mountains which provide a certain inspiration, and being located in a resort in having access to among other things the pool at Banff Springs Hotel. And being part of a fine arts school, they can have cross benefits with the school's other programs.
