A prequel to 'The Creature', the story begins with a young Carpenter walking along the hills of the Shetland Isles and throwing a bag of garbage into the sea. He later sees the raising of a new wind turbine along with a number of protesters, seemingly resisting the progression of technology. Later that night, the protesters pull the turbine down, causing it to fall into the sea and damage the seabed below. A shadow is then seen darting upwards away from the wreckage. Moving forward, Carpenter, now a proud Captain of an industrial cargo ship is informed that an unidentified creature has been pulled out of the water by his men. Seemingly injured, he orders his men to store it on the ship. Eventually, the creature begins killing members of the crew, while hypnotising Carpenter into submission. As time progresses, Carpenter mind snaps, unable to stop the creature from it's routine murders and he locks himself and his daughter inside storage every night. As his daughter grows up, she too endures heartbreak and pain at the hands of the creature, but is also forced to be subservient to it. The film ends with a middle aged Sue telling a crewmember about the creature, and ensuring them even decades later - "It's still hungry."
