Shazi is derived from the German word schatze, which means "treasures." Shazi also in informal Swahili means "a crowd gathered to witness or participate in an interesting event". Shazi is a play about a German treasure hunt in Tanzania based on true stories as told by treasury hunters and people living in perceived treasure trove areas believed to be concealed by Germans in the 19th Century as portrayed through different characters in this epic tale centred on an iconic character called Fabian. Fabian is a very bright, witty but serious, focused and an astute young man with big dreams of success who owns a lost German book and voila; he stumbles upon the news that the book contains mysterious plans for deciphering the codes to access and collect the hidden treasures troves in Tanzania. Fabian, a smart college graduate driven by a quest for riches and fame, embarks on arduous journey, beginning with a critical research on the intrinsic value of information contained in the book at his disposal against the German's offer for the book whether the posted offer is a fair trade off for the value of information in the book. He deferred the posted lucrative reward for the surrender of the book; instead, through his strong will, persuasive approach and leadership skills, he forms a team of five highly skilled experts from different walks of life for the pursuit of the treasures, believing that the deciphering codes he has learned from the book would lead them to get access and take the treasure trove, completely not envisaging the harrowing journey they are about to endure under the leadership of Fabian. This series depicts other groups of people searching for German treasures using different means, such as magic powers and science; meanwhile Fabian and his gang relies mainly on the Germans' mysterious book. This series depicts the events that many people are curious about and excited about, as well as the various true stories and challenges of those who dared to deal with the German treasury with the intention of stealing them. This series also demonstrates the amazing fraudulent tactics used in German treasury hunting by convincing investors that there is a certainty of treasure somewhere and other forms of such fraud. Numerous parties from different regions of Tanzania get together after having a great deal of trouble finding treasures in the wild. While each group alternately exhibits its knowledge, Fabian persuades them to approach the site of the gems they are seeking. Even though Fabian's gang ultimately succeeds in accessing the treasure, it is still unknown whether they will be able to carry it with them without consequences. Shazi's series comes to a conclusion that German treasure hunters do not believe that no one can succeed with ease in treasure hunting life because of the difficulties they have faced. It also demonstrates how the activities they were engaging in is construed as contributing factor in undermining the nation's economy because they lacked the necessary permits from the relevant departments. Finally, it demonstrates what they were supposed to do to carry out the activities after a member of another gang betrayed his own by posing as an under cover police officer. The treasures that had been laboriously sought after needed to be surrendered to the state, and housed as national treasures, and all the suspects had to be taken into custody. The Minister for Minerals meets privately with the suspects and informs them that the president has pardoned them and that they will receive a portion of the treasury as a reward for their efforts. On their way out, the Minister calls Fabian and, with a smile, hands him the German's book again, telling him, "Some treasures are in Tanga." The names of actors and characters in this series are fictional creations and should not be construed as real.
