In the early morning, a group of senior citizens in tracksuits is waiting in front of the closed door of their gym. Every working day these fanatical seniors - about twenty in number - take possession of the gym. It's their base. It's their coffee shop. In a big city, this gym is a world unto itself. The senior citizens of this Basic Fit are all in the same boat: their bodies are failing; their world is getting smaller. So, they work out, with a club of people they didn't know at first. But this gym facilitates fraternizing and gives an unprecedented pleasure. One of them says, "Here at the gym everything falls away; where we come from, what we have done, what we believe in, what we have earned and who we vote for, that doesn't matter here. Here we are all equal because we are exercising'. At the same time, this film can actually show the strength of older people, exactly as they are at the gym: resilient, flexible, full of humor and perspective and still alive.
