In 1940s Iran, a young teacher is summoned to an old mansion to give lessons to a deaf-mute boy. The mansion is owned by two sisters, descendants of an aristocratic family, who live with two elderly servants in an enchanted estate surrounded by gardens. The elder sister spends every dawn speaking to herself by the pond about the family's lost members, including an aunt who ran away with their gardener and returned with a child out of wedlock. Her mother threw the child out, causing the aunt to become mute, and her husband died in despair. As the teacher navigates the mysterious and eerie atmosphere of the mansion, he encounters a series of deaths and the repetition of events from generation to generation in the family. Violet Tree explores the hazy lives of sleepwalker ghosts of an Iranian aristocratic family, shrouded in suspicion, conspiracy, and dark secrets.
