Amin Aslani (born in Paris in 1979) is an Iranian filmmaker, composer, photographer, and author. He is a MA graduate from Kent University and a Ph.D. student in Philosophy at the European Graduate School (EGS). Aslani has published several books on film-philosophy, theater studies, and the philosophy of music in the Persian language. Aslani has made and edited several short and feature films, some of which have been screened in a number of film festivals all over the globe. He directed his first short film, Bahram Yasht when he was 18 years old in 1998. During the Afghan/American war in 2002, he set out on a journey, shooting a documentary in Afghanistan, which was well-received by critics in many film festivals, including Locarno Film Festival and Chicago Doc-Fest, as well as in Brisbane, Thessaloniki, and some other cities' documentary festivals. Over the past twenty years, Aslani has directed more than 15 other shorts, documentaries, and feature-length TV movies and fiction films.
