Vanessa Rodriguez, a popular activist, is the new anchor of a local news station, Good Day San Diego. For her first live broadcast, she interviews a wealthy comedian. Voices in Vanessa's head begin to haunt her and the lines on her teleprompter suddenly change to offensive remarks. When the show's head producer Robert McElroy scolds her in the backstage control room, she diverts the blame to the network. Robert claims the network's innocence but gives her the ultimatum of following the teleprompter, which they believe didn't change nor have offensive lines, or leave the show.
