Njel de Mesa's Must Give Us Pause is a full-length heavy-drama (primarily shot in Singapore) about a grieving author's relationship with a mysterious personal tour guide. Dawn Kelly (Cheska Ortega), an American Author, having lost her Father during the pandemic and over-ridden with guilt, sets out to commit suicide in Singapore. There she meets Nyssa, a obnoxiously cheerful tour guide, which she feels is hiding something from her. As suspicions pile up, she begins to feel forced into a relationship that she might not be ready for. The film echoes the sentiments of all who have lost loved ones during the time of Covid-19, without being able to properly mourn for them or simply be by their side.
