[A working cut of the film has been completed with a view to ensuring all efforts have been made to involve all three members of the band]. In 1983, The Police were the biggest rock group in the world. With five successive hit albums since 1978, the iconic trio had come a long way from their faux-punk beginnings playing support for Cherry Vanilla. But at the height of success, in February 1984, the three blond heads disappeared - going their separate ways without even announcing a split. A brief tour for Amnesty International followed in 1986, and then nothing but speculation and conjecture until their record-breaking reunion in 2007. "All Noises by the Police" is an unprecedented exploration of the precarious psychological tightrope of their musical synergy and the surreal experience of fame - a visually arresting portrait of the band, scored almost entirely with their music and told in their own words through archival and contemporary interviews. This is not a talking heads filled "rock doc". Nor a speculative essay on the pros and cons of reformation. This is not a rehash of the usual tropes and myths. Nor a misty-eyed exercise in nostalgia. Embracing the historical moment in which this singular band formed, conquered the world and then unceremoniously returned to that ether between memory and the present, "All Noises by the Police" is a texturally inviting, atmospheric documentary by Ben deHoedt about the experiences and achievements of three compelling personalities, spanning 1977 to 1984.
