-In the summer of 1989, the whole country was gripped by what came to be known as the "Chantale Daigle Affair". The saga was the misadventure of a young 21-year-old woman who, pregnant by a violent man, decided to have an abortion, only to find herself forbidden by an injunction brought by her ex-boyfriend. She thus becomes the only woman in Canada denied the right to an abortion. In "L'affaire Chantale Daigle: le documentaire", (a documentary film by Gaëlle d'Ynglemare), we delve into this landmark story with journalist Noémi Mercier, tracing its events and twists and turns, in the company of the feminist activists who supported and accompanied Chantale Daigle during those crucial months for abortion rights in Canada.
