Calf (2022)

Stella is a girl born with the extremely rare ability called Hyperthymesia, where she can remember nearly every event in her life in extreme detail. For this reason she is chosen as young girl to be the first contact with a signal emitting from the edge of our solar system. She is taken away from her farm lifestyle and put through five years of physical training in order to survive the voyage as well as shown and taught all that she will need to remember about humanity when making first contact. Upon completion she is sent on a one way mission, isolated and seated in a chair for 124 days with only her supervisor Bernard speaking to her. Her brain probed, Bernard asks her questions to check her mental stability, which she can recount in vivid detail. As she approaches the end of the mission Bernard begins to ask her about her past. This reveals the cruel reality of her life and how much she's had to sacrifice to complete this mission for humanity.
