Unaware that life wants Richard to wake up from society's unsustainable way of life, he becomes a victim of circumstances when the planet's resources are no longer sufficient and is forced to question his lifestyle. No electricity, no water, no food, collection requirements in the mailbox, the amount of data on the phone is gone, parking ticket, and he is running out of gas on his way to present a seminar about the fate of the Rapa Nui islanders. At the center of his thoughts are Easter Island and the public image that the natives, in their greed to erect a thousand Moai stone statues, drove the island to ecological collapse and cut down the last tree. But the picture is misleading, and he begins to reflect on what Easter Island ruin can teach us who live today.
