Cape-Helena is a intimate exploration of the nuanced history between South Africa and the mid-south Atlantic Island of St. Helena. It covers various aspects of this history, ranging from migrant nostalgia, slavery, war and colonialism. The film starts with its narrator's nostalgia for St. Helena but as the film progresses, the audience is treated to a far more complex history that spans a range of human emotion and themes related to identity, belonging and healing through the process of reconnecting after the devastating effects of colonialism and apartheid.
