Mara and her children Lars, Viola and Jessica live with the loss of husband and father Stefan, who has been missing since a typhoon. Mara bears this emptiness with humility, the children with God, escapism and anger. This lack manifests itself particularly clearly every year on the anniversary of his death. The family peace is then particularly precious but also particularly endangered. And after that day, nothing will ever be the same again. The film "All to zero" is a family drama with elements of the psychological thriller. With the main character's late emancipation from a stuck family memory, it is also a coming-of-age concept in the broadest sense. Loss, the resulting lack and emptiness as well as overcoming them or failing at it are the main themes. Overcoming requires letting go. All the main characters move in this process. "All to zero" is a film of silence and pauses, but not only. The empty spaces are the content. What is missing is central. It is not about explanations, it is about feelings. Loss, fear, hope, grief, pain, anger, betrayal, forgiveness.... As well as self-preservation and self-determination. The static, long camera shots, the gloomy color aesthetic and the dark music create an atmosphere for the fragility and intimacy of the story.
